When we speak about the entire opus of Dostoyevsky, there is quite a concrete aspect that connects all the novels. This horizontal is opened by the sonorous voice of his entire opus – the narrator. This voice grows, develops, changes the distance, gets lost among other voices, identifies itself, has enough courage to state its own mind … The voice that travels and changes while travelling. All through his moving, the narrator carries the trait of love (idiotic love) for man and it is this trait that makes him consistent. This narrator’s voice allows Dostoyevsky to establish a certain distance from the story (and given the circumstances of the writer’s intricate life, this is necessary), at once giving him the possibility to shout together with other voices.
All that we are creating on the grounds of his novel is but a tiny fragment of a limitless space of the being’s interior. Each voice is but a part of the polyphony.
